Since its founding in 1984, Purdue’s Department of Food Science recognizes industry as a key customer. To achieve our corporate-like vision, “be recognized as the leading food science department”, we understand the necessity in the excellence of education, research, and engagement. These can not be achieved without our industry partners. Industry plays major roles in the development of curriculum and study, directions of research and support, and development of continuing education such as workshops. By keeping our close associations with industry, through our graduates, the Department provides a cutting-edge workforce that answers the needs of industry.

There are several ways to interact with the Department of Food Science. Our departmental Administrative Director acts as an “entry point” for companies wanting to interact with the Department, and acts as a corporate liaison between the Department and our industry partners.

The Industrial Associates group is our industrial advisory board that regularly meets with faculty and students. Once companies value the relationship between the Department and the impact we can make on their company, they can move to this level of interaction. Please take a look at our current members.
