Special Requirements for Ph.D. Students

All Ph.D. students must serve as a teaching assistant for one semester. This requirement provides students with teaching experience and it assists instructors of Food Science courses. Students whose first language is not English must be certified for oral English proficiency for the Purdue Oral English Proficiency Program before serving as a teaching assistant. The Preliminary Examination for Ph.D. students consists of the preparation and oral defense of an original written research proposal.
